Christoph Keese, born 1964, is Group Managing Director Public Affairs of the Axel Springer publishing corporation since 1st April 2008. In this capacity, he is the “ambassador” of Europe’s largest newspaper publishing house that also owns numerous magazines, websites, as well as radio and TV stations. Prior to this, from May 2004 to March 2008, he was Chief Editor of “Welt am Sonntag” and from 2006 to 2008 Chief editor of “Welt online”. Keese came to Axel Springer from the “Financial Times Deutschland” (FTD) that he helped to found and where he worked as Chief Editor. Before joining FTD, he worked as Managing Editor and Head of the Business Division at the “Berliner Zeitung”.

Christoph Keese is an economist and graduate of the Hamburg School of Journalism/Henri-Nannen-Schule. After attending university and the school of journalism, he began his professional career at Gruner + Jahr, where he was Assistant to the Chairman of the Board, Gerd Schulte-Hillen.

As a journalist, Keese writes mainly about economic policy. He is the author of the highly acclaimed books “Rettet den Kapitalismus” (“Save Capitalism”), published by Hoffmann and Campe 2004, and “Verantwortung jetzt” (“Responsibility Now”), published by C. Bertelsmann, 2006.
